A juried art show is a show where all the artists must submit money and professional photos of their work months prior to the show. Show applications are being filled out, dreams of summer while snow is still deep on the ground. Then, wait on pins and needles to find out if they were accepted to the show(s) they applied for. I was blessed to be accepted into several great shows so far this year. These summer shows are all outside under little white tents provided by the artists of course. Weather…..well – we all check the weather channel frequently prior to these shows in an effort to be as prepared as we can for whatever mother nature brings our way.
Rain or Shine – the tents go up and our little stores come together like magic. The process is a tremendous amount of work but the face to face selling opportunity really makes it worth it. My creations sell best when the customers can see and touch. I also enjoy answering questions about how to melt glass….how hot does it get? Do you ever get burned? 🙂 Very hot and….yes.
I had a fabulous show a couple weekends back in Wausau, Wisconsin. Called the Wausau Festival of Arts it was a show in it’s 50th year. The entire town comes alive with arts and crafts the whole weekend – Artrageous weekend is what they call it and I would have to agree. The crowds were wonderful and the weather could not have been more cooperative…..picture perfect for Wisconsin in early fall.
Last outdoor show of the season coming soon: Townline Art Fair, Ephraim, Wisconsin
Saturday, October 11th & Sunday, October 12th – Saturday 10-5, Sunday 10-4
